Actors from Star Wars: The Last Jedi attended a photocall and press conference in Tokyo.
Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, droids C-3PO, R2-D2, and BB-8, producer Kathleen Kennedy, and director Rian Johnson stood proudly for photos. Hamill, who reprised his original role as Luke Skywalker for the new trilogy, dressed casually for the event, along with Driver, who plays villain Kylo Ren. Johnson and Kennedy dressed up a bit more for the occasion, while the droids appeared in their classic metal getups.
The Last Jedi is the last film in the franchise to feature the late Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. At the event, Hamill opened up about his regret for not being there for Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourde as she grew up. “I feel badly that I wasn’t there for my niece,” he said of her. “She is wonderful in her own right. There is so much Carrie in her and so much of [late grandmother] Debbie Reynolds in her.”
Driver spoke about his training in the film, and praised his stunt men as well. “It’s just rigorous in a great way,” the 34-year-old actor said. “These stunt guys are very disciplined. So you can’t half-ass it.” In addition, Driver mentioned that he worked with two stuntmen at the same time, which could hint at what may appear in the movie.
