Fans are getting ready to sink their teeth into Season Four of HBO'S True Blood, which may put protagonist Sookie, played by Anna Paquin (pictured), in the middle of a love triangle.
While there's no doubt where Paquin's loyalties lie in real life, since she married costar and primary True Blood love interest, Stephen Moyer, who plays bloodsucker-with-a-heart-of-gold Bill Compton, in August, creator Alan Ball strives for a little more ambiguity on the show. Season Three saw the telepathic Sookie having some interesting nighttime fantasies about the villainous Eric Northman, played by Alexander Skarsgard, and Bill may just find himself with some competition for Sookie's affections.
"She's seeing this different side of Eric now," Skarsgard told Examiner.com. "But it can't be like she hated the old Eric, and now it's the new guy and she likes the new guy and then he goes back to the old guy and she hates him. It has to be more complicated, more of a gray zone than that. It was just important for us to realize that it's not like a completely different Eric. It is a different side of the same guy." While Eric is softening up, rumor has it that Bill starts to get in touch with his darker side, which could present some outer conflict and inner turmoil for the half-fairy, half-human Sookie.
Season Four of True Blood will also guest star Harry Potter's Fiona Shaw as the next villainous force to be reckoned with. Catch the premiere on HBO on June 26.
