The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is perhaps the most anticipated film of the holiday season. Directed by The Lord of the Rings trilogy director Peter Jackson, 51, and starring Martin Freeman, 41, Ian McKellen, 73, and Cate Blanchett, 43, the film raked in close to $85 million in its first weekend.
Set 60 years before the LOTR trilogy begins, this movie tells the tale of hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Freeman), who is hired by Gandalf (McKellen) to lead a group of dwarves on a quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the dragon Smaug.
