SPOILERS: Seth MacFarlane Talks 'Family Guy' Movie

Seth MacFarlane, the Ted creator/star and soon-to-be Academy Awards host, revealed in a Q&A session with UCLA students that he has plans for a Family Guy movie, the long-running Fox animated series that he created, according to a video taken by mtvU’s “Stand In” project.

MacFarlane stopped short of giving away his idea, but he did offer fans a taste of what was to come, and expectations will no doubt soar after Ted became the highest-grossing R-rated original comedy of all time with over $500 million at the worldwide box office.

“We do know what the Family Guy movie will be. The Simpsons movie, I thought, was hilarious, but the one criticism I would have is that it’s a story they probably could’ve done on TV. There could’ve been an episode that had that plotline,” he said. “That’s the challenge with animation. You pretty much can do any story you want, so what is the reason for the movie? We finally hit on the answer to that question, and it will be something that would be impossible to do on TV.”

MacFarlane was at the school on behalf of “The Oscar Experience College Search,” a contest for students to win the chance to help MacFarlane present at the Academy Awards on Feb. 24. Hopeful students need to submit a 30-second video in which they answer the question: “How will you contribute to the future of movies?” This can be accessed through the official Facebook page for the Academy Awards.

MacFarlane’s full “Stand-In” interview will appear on mtvU.com on Dec. 10.
