If you're a Game of Thrones fan, you've been waiting for this Season 3 trailer for months. Luckily, if you're a Game of Thrones fan, you might also consider this an exciting preview — though it's really just a teaser featuring a disembodied voice reading two cryptic lines over simple graphics. Alas. What does it say? "The great war is between death and life, ice and fire," says a female voice as the letters GoT appear onscreen, with swords piercing the middle "o." "If we lose, the night will never end," she continues, as the letters morph into the Season 3 premiere date, 03.31.2013 — exactly one year after the premiere of Season 2, whose ten episodes aired on HBO from April to June. Unfortunately, there's no sign of Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) or Jon Snow (Kit Harington) anywhere.

Even so, many have already begun deciphering what little the cryptic teaser does provide, positing that the voice may pertain to Carice van Houten as Melisandre. Others have applauded the allusion to George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, the series of novels on which the show is based, and the swords impaling the "o" have led some to recall the third of those novels, A Storm of Swords, which is popularly considered the best of the five-part series. But is the teaser enough to hold us over until March?
