The Office show-runner, Greg Daniels, is inviting lapsed viewers to come back and start watching the show again beginning on Jan. 24, for what he describes as “the beginning of the end.”
During an on-set visit by the Television Critics Association (TCA), Daniels outlined the plan for the show going forward until the finale in May. "If you look at how many characters there are here, and you think that it'll be our 200th half hour when we do the finale, I don't think we're planning on packing everything into the last episode," he told reporters. "I would encourage people, if you are waiting for the end of The Office to re-tune in, I would start doing it right away."
Daniels revealed that in episode 15, someone will be getting the axe, according to Entertainment Weekly. He also confirmed that several former cast members including B.J. Novak, 33, Mindy Kaling, 33, and Zach Woods, 28, will return to the show. As for Steve Carell, 50, there are no plans for a Michael Scott reunion in the works – as of right now. "Steve is very much of the opinion that the "Goodbye Michael" episode and the story arc that we did leading up to it was his goodbye to the fans and to the show, and that the stuff we're doing this season is the goodbye that the rest of the show gets to have," Daniels said. "So at the moment we don't have any plans for him to come back."
