David Fincher's movie adaptation of Stieg Larsson's bestselling novel, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, will not hit theaters until December, but an amateur version of the trailer was recently leaked on YouTube.
The highly anticipated English language version of the film (following the Swedish-made trilogy), starring Daniel Craig, Robin Wright, Stellan Skarsgard and Rooney Mara, will follow the adventures of Lisbeth Salander, a brilliant computer hacker and the central character in the crime series. There's rampant speculation on the internet that the "leaked" trailer was actually a marketing ploy released by Sony Films, the studio producing the film, to create viral buzz about the upcoming picture. Significantly, Sony has not removed the clip from YouTube, which has received over 1.4 million views in two days.
In the beginning it appears as if the trailer is being shot by a handheld camera, and the film is overexposed, but everything steadies up in time to see the good stuff.
