Judy Craymer, the mastermind behind the hit stage show Mama Mia!, is collaborating with some members of the Spice Girls to create a musical based on the girl-power group. Geri Halliwell, also known as Ginger Spice, had approached Craymer several times over the past couple of years about putting on a stage show. While at first Craymer was too busy, she now sees it as a perfect opportunity to capture the late-90’s ethos.
The show,Viva Forever, will be produced by American Idol creator Simon Fuller, the Spice Girls’ old manager before they asked to be let out of their contract. Though the classic Spice Girl songs will remain the same, the story will be fictional with a plot and with new characters that are reminiscent of the Spice Girls. No word on whether Victoria Beckham, pictured, aka Posh Spice, will contibute to the project. –NATASHA ALLOWAY
