Australian actor Andy Whitfield, 38, who plays the lead role in the Starz original series Spartacus, has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, it was announced Tuesday. The network has halted production temporarily while the actor undergoes treatment. Whitfield was gearing up to shoot the second season of the ancient Roman action-drama series in New Zealand when the cancer was discovered during a routine check-up. Whitfield’s cancer was detected in its early stages and is "very treatable." –KRIS ALCANTARA
