Southwest Airlines announced that it would be conducting an internal investigation after one of their pilots used a phrase to insult President Joe Biden during his official greeting to passengers.
During the flight the pilot said “let’s go, Brandon,” a phrase that has been used a stand-in for “f— Joe Biden.” There were reportedly audible gasps heard from passenger’s after the phrase was said.
Southwest released a statement announcing the investigation, adding that they don’t support their employees sharing their political believes, regardless of what side of the aisle they are on, during work.
“Southwest does not condone Employees sharing their personal political opinions while on the job serving our Customers, and one Employee’s individual perspective should not be interpreted as the viewpoint of Southwest and its collective 54,000 Employees,” the statement said.
The phrase gained popularity during a NASCAR race when the winner, Brandon Brown, was being interviewed by NBC. The crowd began to chant “f— Joe Biden” which the reporter misheard as “let’s go, Brandon.”
Since then the phrase has become a stand-in for the vulgar chant.
