Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the Southampton Inn is a discreet 90-room gem in the middle of all the hubbub.
Rooms are generously sized and appointed in classic beachy Hampston’s style with original works of art on the walls, lovingly collected by proprietor Dede Gotthelf. The weekend uInterview visited Yeou-Cheng Ma, Yo-Yo Ma’s sister, a friend of Gotthelf’s, performed in the Inn’s cozy library for guests.
Just a short walk to the famed Cooper’s beach, the Southampton Inn is perfectly situated for those looking for a few days in the sun. Guests can wash off the sand in the large pool that’s open from mid-May to mid-October. The Inn is a popular destination for wedding parties and corporate retreats looking for a non-institutional feel for their events. The all-season tennis court doubles as a reception area when women want a heel-safe surface.
