Sons of Anarchy opened up the series-altering episode “Aon Rud Persanta” with Tara (Maggie Siff) awaking and picking up Thomas as Abel continues to sleep in the other room. In place of Jax, Rat was standing guard, agreeing to giving her privacy to feed Thomas but ordering her on Jax’s behalf not to take the kids to St. Thomas.

Sons Of Anarchy Recap

Meanwhile, Jax (Charlie Hunnam) met with the DA to go over the details of the deal that would give him, Tara and the club immunity. In order for the DA to go through with the deal, Jax had to give her both Galen (Timothy V. Murphy) and the guns. Jax tells her that he’ll be meeting with Galen in the afternoon at an old warehouse, where Galen will surely come with armed backup. The DA doesn’t divulge to Jax who she’ll be sending for the setup.

Jax’s mom Gemma (Katey Sagal) and Nero (Jimmy Smits) get into a heartfelt discussion about Wendy (Drea de Matteo), who Gemma admits she hurt in her past. Despite Nero’s suggestion that maybe she and Tara could mend their relationship and sharing his regret in not doing what he could to save his druggie wife before she died, Gemma seems determined not to pardon Tara.

SAMCRO & Irish Break Clay Out Of Prison

The SAMCRO men follow Chibs (Tommy Flanagan) and Jax to the Irish beverage distributor where Connor (Scott Anderson) and Hugh (Alan O'Neill) are waiting for them. The two Irishmen are then tasked with picking up the gun shipment and meeting Galen with the load at the hangar. Connor also takes the lead on breaking Clay out of prison. The plan included four delivery trucks with two men in each. Tiggy (Kim Coates) and Bobby (Mark Boone Junior) were paired together, as were Jax and Juice (Theo Rossi).

In their truck, Juice admits to Jax that he’d like to feel like one of the good guys again. Jax reassures him that after this op, they will be. In the midst of their heart-to-heart, they get a call revealing that Clay’s (Ron Perlman) vehicle only has one tail. Tiggy takes it upon himself to crash into the chaser and then the rest of the delivery trucks surround Clay’s vehicle. Jax approaches the transport and asks for Clay to be let out. Cops begin to shoot at Bobby, so Juice runs him over to stop him. Jax lets Juice’s indiscretion slide and tells him to head to the airstrip

Tara drops the boys off with Unser (Dayton Callie) before meeting with her lawyer. Her lawyer informs her that he’s ready to go forward with both the divorce and custody battle, but has a stern warning for her: While her accusations against Jax could be used against him, he’ll also get the chance to tarnish her image with evidence – including the fake miscarriage. Afterwards, Tara goes to Gemma’s where she finds Abel, Wendy, Nero and Unser, who’d recently confessed his love to Gemma. She’s told about Bobby, who they expect her to restore to health.

Jax Kills Galen & Clay

At the hangar, the men share some affection – Clay hugs Juice and kisses him on the cheek, Galen hugs Clay then goes to shake hands with Jax. Instead of reaching his hand out, Jax pulls a gun and shoots Galen in the head. Tig and Chibs follow suit and shoot an Irishman each. Clay is stunned. Jax then tells Juice to help Tara care for Bobby before he reveals the final part of the plan.

Connor would be at the office within 15 minutes, and with three of his men dead, the likelihood of striking a deal would be impossible – but Jax already has a strategy for a way to settle with the Irish. Clay understands what’s about to happen before Jax reveals that a club vote determined that it was the only way to tie up all the loose ends. Jax and the guys walk Clay to the spot where the Irishmen lay dead. Clay, though shaky, is ready to take the bullet when Jax fires a shot through his throat, followed by a handful more to his chest.

Tara Saves Bobby, Seeks Witness Protection

Gemma cries when she sees Clay massacred, but almost immediately goes to Jax to let him know that she understood. She also tells him that she’d get Tara supplies to treat Bobby and then bring them both to the cabin. Jax talks to Nero, promising him that they’re the future of SAMCRO now that the past has been put to rest. Tara defends Jax’s killing of Clay to Nero as they drive to the hospital. She also reaches out to comfort Gemma, knowing that she probably had mixed feelings about the death of her husband.

Still at the office, Jax, Chibs and Tig set up the dead bodies. When Connor and Hugh arrive, Jax tells them his revised version of events that includes Clay killing the three dead Irish. Connor isn’t quick to believe him, but Jax pushes that his story is the only one that doesn’t make Connor look weak. He then tells him to get distribution from August Marks or the Chinese, because SAMCRO is out. Connor agrees and Jax tells him to leave the KG-9s with him and to take the rest of the guns to the warehouse. Eli (Rockmond Dunbar) believes Jax had kept to his deal when they come upon the guns and Galen’s body, but the DA thinks the dead bodies make it void.

Tara, meanwhile, meets with the DA and learns that she’ll have to give information on a federal crime if she wants to go into Witness Protection. She says she’ll have to think about it. After Jax thanks her for saving Bobby and leaves, she pulls out the bullet she took out of Bobby's shoulder – the potential ticket to her freedom.
