'Sons Of Anarchy' Recap: Jax Defies August Marks; Chibs Rejects Juice's Plea To Return To SAMCRO

Sons of Anarchy kicked off Tuesday night towards the end of Lyla shooting a scene for Redwoody’s first adult film DVD, which proves tame by comparison to the bloodletting to come.

Sons of Anarchy Recap

Chibs (Tommy Flanagan) and Tig (Kim Coates) are nearly besides themselves, while Jax (Charlie Hunnam) appreciatively calls Lyla, who was working behind the camera, a “genius.” Interrupting the celebration is August Marks (Billy Brown), who has pulled up to the lot outside. Marks has heard about the Chinese shipment getting hit and he’s more or less convinced that SAMCRO is behind it. He’s not buying that the two muscle men ran the operation, as he knows that the Chinese lost 4 kilos of heroin, not two. Threatening Jax, he says he’ll have no problem killing him or any of the other Sons.

Instead of meeting with Tully (Marilyn Manson) as planned, Jax decides to meet with Tyler (Mo McRae) and the One-Niners, using August’s insistence that the One-Niners don’t get their revenge on the Mayans as leverage. Jax tells Tyler that he’s going to get revenge on the Chinese regardless of what August wants. Tyler is wary of following Jax’s lead, as they don’t have an independent income. He earns Tyler’s trust with half a kilo of heroin to sell and the promise to take out a guy named Chester who is trying to divide the Niners.

Jax Teams Up With Niners

When Jax meets with Chester (Rich Paul), he tells him upfront that he wants a guy who will willingly go up against Marks with him. Chester wants retribution on the Mayans for taking the Niners stuff, so Jax tells him where it’s been hidden. Jax, Chibs and Bobby (Mark Boone Junior) go with Chester and his two men to the warehouse. As they pack away their heat and bend down to start checking the loot they're about to recoup, the Sons open fire and kill them, making good on the promise to Tyler.

The Mayans and Nero (Jimmy Smits) eventually end up at the warehouse, where they meet up with Barofsky (Peter Weller). He claims that it was local cops who killed the Niners and then gives the group the address of where the Mayans can find the rest of the Niners. The group the Mayans and Nero find is actually the outlying Niners that would have followed Chester – men Tyler wanted to get rid of. Before the Mayans take out the rogue Niners, Jax and Tyler revealed the threat to Marks, who approved of the plan to have them killed.

Marks, as it turns out, has a highly personal reason for wanting the murders and gang-fighting to be kept to a minimum. He’s on thin ice with investors because his business partner for a big development hasn’t been seen. If the FEDS start looking into him, it would be costly for them to find out about his relationships with less reputable people. Making matters worse for Marks, by nightfall, the Grim Bastards – driven by Tig and Happy (Labrava) – beat customers at a Henry Lin-owned massage parlor and plan on hitting up a second establishment of his.

Juice Denied Reentry Into SAMCRO

After deciding not to flee, Juice (Theo Rossi) is back in Charming and sits down to chat with Unser (Dayton Callie), who is working Tara’s murder as a consultant. Unser wants Juice to give him any information he can give him as a favor. Juice sticks to the story that the Chinese have something to do with it, which Unser reports back to Jarry (Annabeth Gish). Unser then helps Juice out by getting Chibs to the diner to talk to him (under the guise of a required meeting with his parole officer). Juice wants back into SAMCRO, but Chibs isn’t having it, and actually tells Juice he should just off himself. Unser and Wendy later drive Juice out to a remote motel to lay low for the time being, while Chibs meets with Jarry with an envelope in cash and the two agree to warn one another of any pertinent developments.

Brooke (Hayley McFarland), who is still working with SAMCRO, is paid a visit by her father earlier in the day. He doesn’t like what she does to make her money, but wants some of it for himself. Gemma (Katey Sagal) gets involved in the fray, then so does Nero. Everyone is fine, but the father calls the cops to the clubhouse. Later on, Gemma visits the dad with a pineapple upside down cake, appearing to be looking to make amends. Jax, however, is also in tow. As soon as the dad lets Gemma in, Jax enters the home and begins to deliver a brutal beating that culminates with some gruesome head stomping.

Sons of Anarchy airs Tuesdays on FX at 10/9c.
