Snoop Dogg Carries The Olympic Torch Creating First Iconic Moment At 2024 Paris Olympics

The 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony on July 26 witnessed a remarkable moment as legendary rapper Snoop Dogg, adorned in a crisp white Olympics tracksuit and gold sneakers, danced his way through the streets of the Parisian suburb of Saint-Denis, the coveted Olympic torch in hand.

At the age of 52, Snoop said that his participation as a torchbearer evoked memories of the emotional moment when Muhammad Ali, despite his battle with Parkinson’s disease, lit the cauldron at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Snoop acknowledged the significance of this opportunity and stated, “This is my own version of it. I don’t want to get too emotional, but I know that this is special.”

The rapper’s involvement highlighted the global reach and celebration of the Olympics, as an American icon carried the torch for the Paris Games. “This says a lot about America as far as where we’re at in this world,” Snoop remarked. “At the same time, it says a lot about France as far as connecting the dots and allowing me to do this. I look at this as a prestigious honor and something I truly respect.”

Snoop’s excitement and respect for the event were palpable, as he promised to be on his “best behavior” and “best athleticism,” determined to hold the flame with a smile.

Beyond his torch-bearing duties, Snoop Dogg will also serve as a correspondent for NBC in the 2024 Olympics, provide color commentary in primetime broadcasts, explore the city’s iconic landmarks, attend Olympic competitions and events, and engage with athletes, their friends and families.

“We’re going to have some amazing competitions and, of course, I will be bringing that Snoop style to the mix,” the rapper said in a statement. “It’s going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned, and keep it locked. Let’s elevate, celebrate, and make these games unforgettable, smoke the competition and may the best shine like gold. Peace and Olympic LOVE, ya dig?”

Snoop Dogg‘s participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics torch relay and his role as a correspondent for NBC’s coverage promise to add a unique flair to the event.
