A group of homeowners in Berkeley Township, N.J., have come together and hired a lawyer to ban Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi from filming the new season of her reality show, Snooki and JWoww, there this summer.

The disgruntled residents of Pelican Island attended a Berkeley Township council meeting on July 22 to voice their displeasure at the news that Snooki would be bringing her infamous personality to the Jersey shore town, reports The Star-Ledger of Newark. According to the report, inhabitants of Berkeley Township fear that Snooki’s presence will endanger their peaceful lives and threaten their efforts to rebuild after Hurricane Sandy.

MTV refused to comment, as did the owner of the property allegedly being rented out for the filming of Snooki and JWoww, and city officials reportedly denied any knowledge of Snooki’s plans to film her reality show in the area.

Snooki, however, did not shy away from the controversy. “Unable how adults are trying to ban my son, fiancé and I from enjoying our summer at the shore. Grow up, get over yourself and move on. This is not how we should be treating one another. Absolutely sick and very sad. I pray for you. There’s much bigger things to worry about in life than trying to ban my family from your neighborhood,” Snooki wrote on her official Instagram page accompanying a screenshot of a headline reporting on the intended ban.

Snooki became a household name in MTV’s reality series, Jersey Shore (2009), and currently stars in a spinoff with fellow Jersey Shore alum, Jenni ‘Jwoww’ Farley.
