‘SNL’ Takes Aim At Jussie Smollett & Robert Kraft In Hilarious ‘Shark Tank’ Skit [VIDEO]

Saturday Night Live finally addressed the Jussie Smollett controversy on Saturday night with a scathing take-down. In a skit called “Shark Tank: Legal Edition,” SNL cast members Pete Davidson, Cecily Strong and Kate McKinnon joined host John Mulaney as famous (and infamous) lawyers who could offer up their services to celebrities in legal trouble.

Playing celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti, Davidson joked about the defense attorney’s love for stardom, while Strong played Fox News contributor and former prosecutor Jeanine Pirro. McKinnon reprised her role as former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, and Mulaney took on the role of Alan Dershowitz, a defense attorney who gained notoriety for defending O.J. Simpson and, more recently, for supporting President Donald Trump.

The first guest on the mock show was New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft (played by Beck Bennett), who has recently been charged with soliciting prostitution. Making his case to the lawyers, Bennett’s Kraft asked them to help him out of the “hot water,” making numerous references to the sexual act that got him into trouble.

But the real zinger happened after Bennet’s Kraft left the stage and Chris Redd arrived on the scene as the disgraced former Empire star Smollett. Smollett, who is black and openly gay, has recently made headlines after having reported a hate crime that may have proven to be false. Smollett was arrested by Chicago Police two weeks ago and has since been dropped from the remainder of Fox’s Empire.

Immediately upon walking out, Redd’s Smollett claimed he was attacked by Trump himself outside of the studio. He then pleaded his case for “breaking humanity” by offering spoilers for the next season of Empire. Although most of the lawyers refused to help, Mulaney’s Dershowitz seemed excited by the prospect of defending Smollett, telling him he “has everything I love in a client. You’re famous, you’re probably guilty, end of list.”
