‘SNL’ Tackles Fox News-Dominion $1.6 Billion Lawsuit In Cold Open

Saturday Night Live this weekend began with a parody of the morning news show Fox & Friends as a cold open. The sketch featured Heidi Gardner as Ainsley Earhardt, Mikey Day as Steve Doocy and Bowen Yang as Brian Kilmeade.

The hosts had a laugh about the $1.6 billion lawsuit against Fox News by Dominion Voting Systems over the television network’s unsubstantiated claims of election fraud.

Dominion has submitted numerous texts and emails between Fox News hosts that criticize their own reporting as evidence. The channel has claimed that these conversations were taken out of context.

They also addressed media mogul and Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch, who admitted that the channel promoted election fraud conspiracies that they were aware were false for higher ratings.

They then talked with MyPillow guy Mike Lindell (James Austin Johnson), who is one of the network’s major sponsors and a known conspiracy theorist about the 2020 election. The trio warned Lindell against saying anything that would further damage them in the looming Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit.

However, similar to his actual television appearances, that didn’t prevent him from speaking his mind.

“Every Dominion machine has a Venezuelan Oompa Loompa inside! They ate the votes with its little mouth!” he declared. “Dominion voting machines give triple votes to Democrats, illegals, and that lady M&M that stopped shaving her pits!”

Dominion’s lawsuit specifically calls out Lindell as one of the guests Fox News put on air to make false claims that the electronic voting company was rigging the 2020 election.

The network said that Dominion’s defamation lawsuit would stop honest journalism and the company’s attempt to criticize it for reporting a public assertion by the President of the United States was a “blatant violation of the First Amendment.”
