The SNL cast poked fun at the reaction to Beyonce embracing her black heritage in the Super Bowl halftime show. The skit follows Vanessa Bayer, Aidy Bryant and Kyle Mooney as they each individually freak out upon realizing that “Beyonce is black.”

The show made light of the controversy surrounding the “Formation” star’s newest video. The singer received major backlash from the video with even the likes of New York mayor Rudy Giuliani who called it “anti-police.”

The “trailer” opens with the narrator announcing, “For white people, it was just another great week… they never saw it coming. They had no warning.” That followed with various news clips of reporters announcing that Beyonce was “embracing her black heritage.”

In a mock news update during the skit, a newscaster is heard saying, “Beyonce isn’t the only black celebrity. Some are saying Kerry Washington may also be black” which cut to Bayer grabbing her head and continuing to freak out.

The trailer’s voiceover announcer adds, “It was the day they lost their damn white minds.”
