Smokey Robinson has filed a $500 million countersuit against his accusers’ claims of assault, alleging elder abuse and defamation.

Earlier this month, he was hit with a $50 million lawsuit from four women, who claimed to be his former employees, with allegations ranging from hostile work environment to assault.

According to court documents, Jane Doe 1 claimed the assaults occurred “at least seven times” until her resignation. Jane Doe 2 claimed to have been assaulted by the singer at least 23 different times. The third housekeeper alleged she was “sexually harassed, sexually assaulted and raped” by Robinson “at least 20 times.”

Aside from the sexual misconduct, the victims also claimed they were not paid overtime or given rest and lunch breaks for their work. They stated he created a hostile work environment and demanded they work long hours without receiving minimum wage.

Robinson has vehemently denied the claims, describing the four women as his “extended family.”

Robinson noted that he and his spouse had gifted the four accusers, who allegedly worked as their housekeepers between 2012 and 2024, concert tickets, vehicles and cash during their tenure.

He also mentioned that he attended the graduation of one of his former housekeepers’ children and submitted text evidence showing one of the plaintiffs sending him a friendly message.

Robinson’s legal team also showed an image of his wife, Frances Robinson, vacationing in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with one of the plaintiffs—a vacation he claimed to have footed the bill for.

The countersuit lists defamation of character, emotional distress, financial elder abuse, invasion of privacy and civil conspiracy. His legal team said the four plaintiffs “had the ideal access to take advantage of them” and asked that the women be named in the lawsuit.

All four accusers claimed they didn’t report the alleged sexual assaults out of fear of losing their livelihoods, public embarrassment, shame and humiliation.

The attorney for the four women, John Harris, said that they believe Robinson is “a serial and sick rapist and must be stopped.”

“Having to tell their [spouses] and children of these despicable actions left them filled with shame and embarrassment. So throughout their dreadful experiences with Mr. Robinson, all four women remained silent.”
