The Smashing Pumpkins will hit the road again in 2016, playing 20 gigs across the country.
Smashing Pumpkins announced the 2016 tour – an extension of last year’s short In Plainsong tour – on the band website Monday. Like the previous stops, the gigs are billed as “acoustic-electro” evenings.

“What started as an interest in playing a truly different kind of show and looking for a different way to explore their storied musical past morphed into something new and exciting for the fans in every city”, said Smashing Pumpkins manager Peter Katsis, “This touches the opposing side to The Pumpkins usual roar!”
The 2016 In Plainsong tour will kick off March 22 in Portland, and will include stops in San Francisco, Denver, New York, Detroit and Chicago, before wrapping up on April 20 in Houston.
Smashing Pumpkins founding members Billy Corgon and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin will be joined by rhythm guitarist Jeff Schroeder, who started playing with the band in 2007, for the tour.
Liz Phair will be opening for The Smashing Pumpkins.
