'Slumdog' Kids Get Homes

After attending the Oscars and visiting Disneyland, the two child actors from the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire have been given new homes in Mumbai. Rubina Ali and Azhar Ismail, who portrayed the younger versions of Latika (played by Freda Pinto, pictured) and Salim, the central characters, have lived in the slums of Mumbai since birth and will now get government housing. Some had suggested that while the movie was earning millions its young actors were living in poverty and had been paid poorly for their roles. A fund has now been set up to provide for their education and welfare. (Photo: WENN)
