Sid Wilson, the turntablist for the heavy metal band Slipknot, has survived serious burns across his body in the aftermath of an unspecified accident.

Slipknot, which originated in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995, confirmed the news on their official Instagram account in a post shared on Friday. Slipknot wrote, “Our brother Sid Wilson was in an accident today and sustained burns across his body.”

The statement continued, “He’s recovering with his family and will still join us on stage at Rocklahoma next weekend.”

“He thanks everyone for the well wishes, and will see you all soon,” they concluded. Slipknot is scheduled to perform at the Rocklahoma Festival in Pryor, Oklahoma, from August 30 to September 1.

Wilson himself took to Instagram to share updates from the hospital. In a video, he described the incident as “an explosion in my face,” and reported that he is “singed everywhere, – ” his eyebrows, mouth, face, and arms. He reassured fans, “I’m going to be alright. I don’t care what it takes, I’ll see you on tour.”

In a follow-up video filmed from an ambulance, Wilson mentioned that he may need to shave his head to ensure there are no hidden burns. He clarified that the accident occurred while he was “out working on the farm” and not during a performance. He urged his followers to “be really safe when you’re messing with fire.” Still, Wilson stressed that he is “going to be OK” and is “in good hands.”

Wilson’s partner, Kelly Osbourne, also shared updates from the hospital and humorously noted, “He literally set himself on fire and exploded everything.” She expressed her gratitude for the support and mentioned she was on her way to pick him up.

Footage from both Wilson and Osbourne showed his arms and hands heavily bandaged as he is in recovery.
