Sinead O’Connor’s Son, Shane O’Connor, Found Dead By Suicide

The son of Irish singer Sinead O’Connor was found dead in Ireland on Friday two days after she alerted his disappearance to the authorities. His body was found in a coastal town over ten miles south of Dublin, according to police.

O’Connor confirmed he died by suicide in a Friday night tweet. She wrote that Shane “decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God. May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example.”

O’Connor, who has been open about her own personal struggles with conditions such as bipolar disorder, has said that her son attempted suicide in the past. She pleaded for him not to harm himself in a social media post after his disappearance.

Shane was O’Connor’s third child, with musician Dónal Lunny.
