Simone Battle, the G.R. L. singer and The X Factor alum, died last Friday in what has now officially been ruled a suicide by hanging.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office determined Battle’s cause of death on Sunday, two days after the 25-year-old singer was found dead in her home in West Hollywood. Battle was reportedly found hanging in her bedroom closet at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 5, TMZ reported over the weekend.

"We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L.," reads a statement from Robin Antin, founder of Reign Deer Entertainment, Kemosabe Records, RCA Records and Pussycat Dolls. "Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time."

The women of G.R.L. released a joint statement on Twitter:

"Words cannot express the depth of our loss. Simone's incredible talent was only surpassed by the size of her heart," the members wrote on Saturday. "We will carry her memory with us in everything we do."

According to Battle’s father, the singer was not being treated for depression, nor did she show signs of the disease. “It's possible she may have had an invisible disability,” he told TMZ.

Battle competed on The X Factor in 2011, making it into the Top 17. Despite not making it into the final rounds, her YouTube videos caught the attention of music executives, who brought her into the Pussycat Dolls reboot G.R. L. The group was picking up steam as of late, singing the hook on Pitbull’s “Wild Wild Love.”
