The fourth novel in the Chronicles of Narnia series written by C.S. Lewis will be adapted into film by TriStar Pictures.
Disney distributed the first two books in the series: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe in 2005 and Prince Caspian in 2008. In 2010, 20th Century Fox released the third, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Now, six years later, the franchise will be revived with The Silver Chair.
The Silver Chair, published in 1953, continues the story of the Pevensie siblings and Eustace Scrubb, a character introduced in the third novel. In the upcoming movie, Scrubb and his classmate Jill Pole, at lion Aslan’s command, must rescue a missing prince to return the rightful heir to the throne of Narnia under King Caspian.
David Magee, script writer of Life of Pi, is currently writing the script. Producers of the film will be Mark Gordon, who is also helping to finance the picture, and Douglas Gresham, C.S. Lewis’s stepson, among others.
“It’s been both fun and exciting to work with Mark Gordon and David Magee to develop the next Narnian movie, and now it’s a thrill to welcome Tristar to our Narnia family,” says Gresham. “I greatly look forward to plunging again into the joys and challenges of once more bringing Narnia to the screen, this time with the wonderful story of The Silver Chair.”
