Shonda Rhimes took to task a Twitter follower and self-procliamed fan of Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder who could do without the shows’ “gay scenes.”
Over the weekend, the Shondaland fan tweeted the writer and producer, "The gay scenes in scandal and how to get away with murder are too much," and went on to argue that they don't serve a purpose to the shows' narratives. Succinctly and summarily, Rhimes shut don't the tweeter's criticism with a pair of tweets.
Rhimes has been lauded for her continued portryal of LGBT characters and storylines on her three massively successful TV dramas – Grey's Anatomy, Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder – even receiving the Golden Gate Award from GLAAD in 2012.
