Sherri Shepherd pulled her wig off during her show to illustrate her point about wigs this week.

During her show, Sherri, Shepherd expressed how difficult it is to keep your wig on when it starts slipping off. She was referencing a viral clip where Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts’ wig fell off while she was preaching.

Shepherd empathized with Roberts because she knows what it is like to have your wig start falling off when you’re in the middle of a show.

“But the thing about wigs is when it starts sliding, I talk about this all the time when it starts sliding you can feel it slide because you will start with it down here, and all of a sudden it just keeps making its way up and especially if the wig weighs a lot,” she explained. “All you can do, which is what Sarah Jakes did, was pull it forward. So she preached for the rest of the show in her wig cap because there’s nothing you can do at that moment.”

Shepard explains how she felt “inspired by Sarah Jakes because [she] know[s] how that happens and so she just inspires so many people.”

After, Shepherd’s own wig fell off when she jumped up while trying to describe the audience’s reaction to Roberts. The audience clapped, cheered and some looked shocked for her while Shepherd continued her segment without the wig on. She proves her point by continuing her show without the wig saying, “the show must go on.”

Roberts shared the clip on her Instagram feed captioning it, “I’ve always enjoyed getting dressed up and looking my best. I also have worked really hard to separate my worth and identity from my appearance. I can be full glam one day and fresh hyperpigmented face the next. Today I was preaching and I could feel my wig slipping. My message was more important to me than maintaining my appearance so I took it off, locked in, and kept preaching. What moved me the most was seeing how many women joined me in getting courageously vulnerable, real, and free. Literally, wigs coming off everywhere. I can’t even imagine what God is going to do in September when we gather for Woman Evolve. The message will be up soon and I’m sure the video will circulate a bit but the wigs, beat face, clothes, and shoes are just another way of showing that you can love Jesus and still be fly, but if I didn’t have any of it and still was chosen to preach the gospel, I would. And I did. And I am. As long as you get the message and God gets the glory, my job is done.”
