Shelley Dufresne and Rachel Respess, English teachers at Drestrehan High School, were arrested Wednesday after they were accused of having sexual relations with a student.

Teachers Arrested For Alleged Threesome With Student

Dufresne (pictured above), 32, and Respess, 24, were arrested in Kenner, La., on Wednesday, after it was alleged that they had invited a 16-year-old student to Respess’ Kenner apartment after a football game on Sept. 12, and proceeded to have sex with him.

The student involved is currently a junior and was 16 when the relationship started – he is now 17 years old. Officials were alerted to the student’s sexual relationship with his teachers after the boy was overheard bragging about his conquests at school. He told police that he consented to the sex, but, as a 16-year-old, he was a minor under Louisiana law, and therefore, could not consent to sex with an adult.

Was Dufresne Having An Affair With The Student?

Reports suggest that Dufresne had “prior sexual encounters” with the student, suggesting they had been carrying on some kind of affair. However, conflicting reports claim that both Dufresne and Respess had been engaged in a sexual relationship with the student for quite some time, and police are currently looking for any existing video evidence.

Dufresne is married with three small children and was reportedly arrested on Tuesday, before her arrest with Respess, in St. Charles Parish, where officials believe her illegal relationship with the student continued. She has been released on a $200,000 bond and is currently under house arrest. Respess remains in prison, and both women face one count of carnal knowledge of a juvenile, one count of indecent behavior and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. They have reportedly been suspended without pay.

Two judges of St. Charles Parish have recused themselves from the case because Dufresne’s father was a judge in the district.
