Shawn Mendes took to social media to draw attention to Mental Health Awareness Month, sharing his personal experiences of dealing with anxiety and encouraging his 72 million followers to take care of their mental well-being.

“Honestly sometimes when I’m having bad anxiety doing things like Meditation, journaling & breath work feels really hard to do. Sometimes I just need REST & go into nature for a little bit,” the 24-year-old singer wrote in an Instagram post featuring a collection of photos that show him immersing himself in nature. “I’ve found my spots around town that I can escape to for an hour or so when things feel intense & it’s really changed my life.”

“Nature kinda effortlessly heals us 💙🌳🌿 I hope you’re doing okay #mentalhealthmonth,” the “Stitches” singer wrote, concluding his caption.

Mendes, who was recently spotted rekindling his romance with ex Camilla Cabello, has been outspoken about his mental health struggles in the past.

The Instagram post featured a photo of the musician walking through a desert landscape in grey trousers, one of him standing on a deck, barefoot and wearing a crewneck, as he admired the greenery before him, and a video of him meditating by a peaceful stream.

The post has received over three million likes and thousands of comments from fans and friends praising him for his honesty.

Jay Shetty took to the comments section to express his support, writing, “Miss you my brother! Can’t wait to reconnect. Sending love your way!!”

Fellow singer Jonah Marais expressed his gratitude for Mendes, saying, “Yes!!! thanks for being open about this dude.”

Mendes recently made the “very difficult” decision to cancel his upcoming Europe and North American tour to focus on his mental health struggles.
