Shawn Mendes put on an emotional show in Nashville, bringing singer Nikki Lund to tears.
As Lund was in the crowd during Mendes’ performance, she noted that she was “so impressed” by Mendes and was not expecting him “to blow me away.”
While Lund spent much of the show reveling, the singer said that she shared some sad moments with Mendes as well.
On stage, Mendes dedicated a song called “Golden Heart” to a friend who he said passed from a drug overdose.
“The song brought a lot of audience members to tears, it was very emotional. I welled up too,” Lund recalled.
In addressing the audience about his loss, Mendes also mentioned how it was a “tough time” for him. He commemorated those who helped him through his rough patch by bringing them on stage.
Although Mendes did not specify what he was suffering over, Lund claimed that people in the audience were saying it was most likely after his breakup with Camillo Cabelllo.
Lund said that when Mendes played “Golden Hearts,” the crowd roared, calling it “beautiful.”
“They kept screaming ‘I love you’ ‘I love you Shawn’ and he would say something sweet back every time he could ‘I love you too darling’ ‘I wouldn’t be here without all you’ ‘I’m so grateful for you angels.’”
