Sharon Stone recently revealed that she caught a doctor’s misdiagnosis and discovered a “large fibroid tumor,” and took the opportunity to encourage women to listen to their pain and get second medical opinions.
Stone took to her Instagram story to talk about the situation and implied it isn’t her first rodeo by saying she had “another misdiagnosis and incorrect procedure” and noted that she needed a “double epidural” to deal with the pain of the ultimately unnecessary procedure.

“Ladies in particular: Don’t get blown off. GET A SECOND OPINION, it can save your life,” Stone wrote urgently.
Stone will be “down for 4-6 weeks for full recovery,” according to the post, and it’s great she got the attention she needed.
After she was at the height of her career in the 1990s with roles like Casino and Sliver, a subarachnoid hemorrhage in 2001 nearly killed Stone and caused her to take a hiatus from acting.
She struggled to regain her footing career-wise after this medical episode and a brutal custody battle, telling Variety in 2019 “it took me about seven years” to fully recover from the stroke.
Stone has recently collaborated with Steven Soderbergh on several projects including Mosaic and The Laundromat. She also joined Ryan Murphy’s series Ratched, which was a prequel to the acclaimed novel and film One Flew Ove the Cuckoo’s Nest.
