Sharon Osbourne, the TV personality and co-host of The Five, recently shared a deeply personal experience regarding her plastic surgery journey, igniting a broader conversation about body image and the societal perceptions of cosmetic enhancements.
Osbourne, who is getting ready to launch The Osbournes Podcast on September 12, seized the chance to speak candidly about her experiences with plastic surgery. The podcast offers a forum for open discussions and delves into current events and the history of the Osbourne family in Hollywood.
In a teaser clip released ahead of the podcast’s launch, Osbourne’s son, Jack Osbourne, brought a touch of humor to the discussion by likening his mother’s plastic surgeries to routine car maintenance, joking that she had a “tuneup” every 5,000 miles.
She stressed the importance of openly discussing plastic surgery, asserting that there should be no shame or stigma associated with cosmetic enhancements. Osbourne emphasized that individuals should feel free to make personal choices about their appearance without the fear of judgment from society.
Beyond sharing her personal experiences, Osbourne highlighted the need for people to educate themselves about the potential risks associated with plastic surgery.
She recounted a “botched” facelift she underwent in October 2021, an experience that had both physical and emotional repercussions. To rectify the issues stemming from the initial surgery, she underwent a corrective procedure.
“I went to a surgeon who I’d used before,” recalled Osbourne. “He did such a terrible job. I mean, I looked like a Cyclops. It was the worst thing ever. One eye was higher than the other. I got some scarring … down by my nostril to the side of my lip, which I never had before. I can’t even begin to tell you what this guy did to me. And then I had to wait for that to heal. And then I went to another surgeon who put it all right for me.”
Despite the challenges she faced, Osbourne remains candid about her journey. In a lighthearted moment, she even toyed with the idea of starting a podcast dedicated to plastic surgery, given her extensive personal history with such procedures.
Her daughter, Kelly Osbourne, joined the conversation, expressing her reservations about undergoing cosmetic surgeries due to concerns about pain and discomfort.
Kelly, who recently welcomed a baby, shared her commitment to honesty about any potential procedures in her future. She clarified that she had only received Botox injections and appreciated comments suggesting more extensive surgery as compliments.
Sharon Osbourne’s reflections resonate with a broader shift in societal attitudes toward body image and cosmetic enhancements. She stressed that plastic surgery has become widely accepted and practiced globally. In today’s age of social media, concealing such changes is nearly impossible, which has led to a growing movement encouraging individuals to embrace their choices openly.
