Syfy has released a trailer for Sharknado 2: The Second One, the sequel to last summer’s campy instant cult classic.

In the trailer for the Sharknado sequel, Ian Ziering and Tara Reid are back as Fin Shepard and April Wexler. With the action shifted from Los Angeles to Manhattan, the Big Apple becomes a character unto its own as shark-infested twisters tear through the city streets. The CGI-crafted sea creatures fly over the Empire State Building and swim through Times Square.

As the tagline goes, “Forget the umbrella. Grab a chainsaw,” Fin once again wields his favorite weapon as resident shark slayer. The hero in the face of the inexplicable natural disaster is shown leading the residents of New York City on a fight for survival.

Mark McGrath, Vivica A. Fox Judd Hirsh and Andy Dick all make appearances in the trailer. Other cameos are expected by Kelly Osbourne, Billy Ray Cyrus and Judah Friedlander in the much anticiapted TV movie.

Sharknado 2: The Second One, directed by Anthony C. Ferrante, will premiere on Syfy Thursday, July 30 at 9/8c.
