On July 13, actress Shannen Doherty lost her years-long battle with cancer. It has now been revealed that the Charmed star agreed to finalize her divorce from ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko just one day before her passing.

Doherty signed a filing to waive spousal support on July 12. According to reports, she also agreed to a “default or uncontested dissolution” of the marriage. Her decision was an effort to finalize her divorce without going to court.

“The parties have entered into a written agreement regarding their property and their marriage or domestic partnership rights, including support, the original of which is being or has been submitted to the court,” the paperwork reads.

Doherty, who was 53 when she died, married Iswarienko in 2011 before filing for divorce in April 2023. That June, amid her battle with cancer, she accused her ex of intentionally delaying the legal process to avoid paying her.

“It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years,” she stated in the filing.

Iswarienko’s attorney claimed that Doherty was offered a settlement deal in October 2023 but rejected it. Doherty said this was because they “skirted around the issues of his original works created during marriage” and “his earning capacity.”

Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, announcing her remission in 2017. However, the cancer returned in 2019, eventually spreading to her bones and and her brain before killing her last week.
