Shania Twain Apologizes For Saying She’d Have Voted For Donald Trump
Shania Twain apologized for saying she would’ve voted for Donald Trump if she could have.
Twain is a Canadian citizen and a resident of Switzerland and could not vote in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. In an interview with The Guardian, Twain said she her vote would have gone to Trump. “I would have voted for him because, even though he was offensive, he seemed honest,” he said. “Do you want straight or polite? Not that you shouldn’t be able to have both. If I were voting, I just don’t want bulls—-. I would have voted for a feeling that it was transparent. And politics has a reputation of not being that right?”

She went on Twitter to apologize for her comment after facing backlash. Twain stated she’s “passionately against discrimination of any kind” and that she does “not endorse him.”
I would like to apologise to anybody I have offended in a recent interview with the Guardian relating to the American President. The question caught me off guard. As a Canadian, I regret answering this unexpected question without giving my response more context (1/4)

I am passionately against discrimination of any kind and hope it’s clear from the choices I have made, and the people I stand with, that I do not hold any common moral beliefs with the current President (2/4)

I was trying to explain, in response to a question about the election, that my limited understanding was that the President talked to a portion of America like an accessible person they could relate to, as he was NOT a politician (3/4)

My answer was awkward, but certainly should not be taken as representative of my values nor does it mean I endorse him. I make music to bring people together. My path will always be one of inclusivity, as my history shows. (4/4)

She faced more mixed responses from social media for taking back her comment.

I am sorry to see you turned out to be gutless. Most of your fan base are trump supporters.

I hope Shania Twain enjoys all the love and “guns fired in the air” happiness she’ll get from Trump supporters in the near future. She’s chosen that kind of feedback. She’ll go from gay icon to David Duke’s favorite singer. That’s her crowd now.

In praising Trump, @ShaniaTwain might have alienated the Left but she certainly boosted her credibility with the Right. In apologizing she alienates the Right and doesn’t even win back the Left. Lose-lose. Never apologize & always double down!

An apology is not necessary. Trump has a 51% approval rating by the ‘People’. Your allowed to support whom ever you want without being harassed by a bunch of intolerant leftist, bullies, trying to shame you for your beliefs. You should’ve stood by your words with pride!

Twain is set to tour on May 3.
