Shakira Merchandise Pendant Included Unintentional Nazi Symbolism
A necklace that was being sold in the promotion of Shakira‘s El Dorado World Tour had elements of Nazi symbolism.
The sun design on the pendant was strikingly similar to that of the Black Sun symbol, also known as Schwarze Sonne in German. According to USA Today, the black sun symbol is an ancient occult pattern that is still used by some neo-Nazi groups. It is illegal to print this sign in Germany, where Shakira performed on June 3.

Two days after the similarities were first reported by Bento, the $9.95 pendant could no longer be found on the Colombian singer’s website. Additionally, LiveNation tweeted an apology, assuring the item would no longer be for sale.

“The necklace Live Nation designed for Shakira’s ‘El Dorado World Tour’ was based on Pre-Colombian imagery. However… some fans have expressed concern that the design bears an unintentional resemblance to Neo-Nazi imagery. We sincerely apologize for this inadvertent similarity and have permanently pulled the item from the tour collection,” LiveNation tweeted in a series of tweets on June 21.
Fans also noticed the Nazi symbolism.
So Shakira most likely accidentally put a nazi symbol on her tour merch and didn’t know it lmao pic.twitter.com/HRjP41owbO

However, there still were some fans who came to the singer’s defense.
I swear, stupidity knows no bounds. People losing their minds over @shakira‘s tour necklace need a major reality check. It’s not a nazi symbol. It looks more Aztec than anything else.
These ridiculous Nazi comparisons need to stop.

Just saw news about Shakira’s gaff regarding her posting a necklace for sale with a symbol used by Nazis. I’ve seen that symbol from pre-Columbian artifacts from Hopi to Chibcha of Colombia (where Shakira is from) – representing spiritual growth.

Shakira has not yet addressed the pendant publicly.
