Shakira shared a unique holiday message on Instagram along with a photo of her and her two sons in Dubai. In the photo, Shakira and her boys Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7, posed in all white clothes and head coverings while the singer held a falcon on her arm.
“In the desert looking for serenity this Christmas,” she wrote.
This is the first Christmas the star’s kids were away from their father, Gerard Piqué after the former couple’s intense divorce. The settlement, reached last month, allows Piqué to visit his children for 10 days a month at any time he wishes.
In light of Shakira’s upcoming move to Miami for the boys to resume school, it seems that there is a new dispute between her and her ex.
“If the children start the course on the 5th, Piqué loses time to be with them, so either they are delivered to him earlier or they start classes beyond the North American calendar,” one source told the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia. The soccer player agreed to spend New Year’s Eve with the boys, and both parties’ lawyers are negotiating a solution.

Shakira’s trip to the UAE appears to be an effort for a new, more peaceful chapter of her life. She wrote a message to her fans in another post on Saturday displaying her ornate Christmas tree topper.
“Thanks for all the love and support you gave me and my kids during this year,” she captioned the photo. “I wish you a sweet holiday. Here’s to a 2023 that’s filled with peace and hope.”
