Shakira has dropped a brutal breakup song about her ex-husband, Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué.

In June 2022, they announced their breakup publicly. This occurred just before reports came out that Piqué, 35, had started a relationship with Clara Chia Marti, a 23-year-old PR student who worked at his production company.

The track, entitled “BZRP Music Session #53,” is a collaboration with Argentine producer Bizarrap. She takes various jabs at Piqué with translated lyrics like “I was out of your league and that’s why you’re with someone just like you” and “You traded a Ferrari for a Twingo / You traded a Rolex for a Casio.”

She also addressed her charge for tax fraud where she allegedly failed to pay $16 million of income tax while living in Barcelona between 2012 and 2014. Shakira has denied that she owes money, claiming that she was living in the Bahamas during this time.

The singer also took shots at her mother-in-law. Reports say that she set up a figure of a witch on the balcony of her own home facing the direction of the home of Piqué’s mother while blasting her new song on a loop.

On Instagram, Shakira posted to celebrate her song making it to the top of Spotify’s Top 50 Global playlist. She wrote: “And here’s to all the women teaching me how to make sweet lemonade when life gives you those sour a– lemons.”

The “BZRP Music Session #53” music video garnered more than 63 million YouTube views in its first 24 hours of release.

Shakira and Piqué met during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa where she performed the tournament’s theme song, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).”

They have two children, Milan and Sasha, ages nine and seven respectively.
