After the shocking cancelation of hit Netflix show Sense8, the sci-fi thriller will return for a 2-hour series finale to wrap things up.
On June 8, the official Sense8 Facebook page wrote a post saying they love their fans, but would be unable to get the show back on the air. “We’ve seen the petitions. We’ve read the messages,” they said before giving the heartbreaking news.
But now, a letter written by creator Lana Wachowski was posted to the page, and fans are very excited. “The passionate letters, the petitions, the collective voice that rose up like the first of Sun to fight for this show was beyond what anyone was expecting,” Wachowski writes. “In this world it is easy to believe that you cannot make a difference; that when a government or an institution or corporation makes a decision, there is something irrevocable about the decision; that love is always less important than the bottom line.
“But here is a gift from the fans of this show that I will carry forever in my heart: while it is often true those decisions are irreversible, it is not always true.” she continued. “Improbably, unforeseeably, your love has brought Sense8 back to life.”
She then announced that Netflix would revive the show for a two-hour special, to be released next year. “After that… if this experience has taught me anything, you NEVER know. Thank you all. Now let’s go find out what happens to Wolfgang.”
