Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) and his fiancée, interior designer Mindy Noce, have opened up about their “heaven-sent” relationship.
In January, the V.P. contender, 58, proposed to Noce, 47, just before the New Hampshire primary. The couple is set to exchange vows on August 3 in Charleston, South Carolina.
After months of speculation about Scott’s love life, Scott brought his girlfriend on stage last November after the debate in Miami. Scott’s team confirmed that the pair had been dating for “several months” after eagled-eyed views spotted Noce smiling for the cameras.
In an interview on Fox & Friends, the couple addressed the criticism they have faced, particularly from ABC’s The View, who insinuated that the senator only proposed to be in the running for vice president.
Noce, a Charleston-area designer, has three grown children from a previous marriage, while Scott has never been married before. The pair, who were set up on a pickleball date by mutual friends before they attended a Bible study together, believe their bond was divinely orchestrated. “God shows you the path,” Noce said as she addressed the critics who suggested their engagement was a calculated political move.
Scott revealed that he had been “praying for years” to find a wife and knew Noce was “the one” from their first conversation. “She laughs and understands love of country and love [of] the Lord,” he explained and described her as “attractive, family, devoted to the country. It’s a pretty good deal.”
The couple recounted the romantic details of Scott’s proposal, which occurred on “one of the coldest days in January.” As they strolled along the beach and marveled at the sunset, Scott asked Noce to remove her gloves.
“I said no,” Noce said, “until I saw him get the ring.”
Noce, who sees her role as a “prayer warrior” for her fiancé, supports him and is a devoted listener, expressed her excitement about her role once they are married. Scott, who had been notoriously private about his love life before he met Noce, recently gushed about the joy he anticipates in this new chapter of his life.
“I really want to spend the rest of my life with this woman. And what a blessing,” he said.
