Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) reportedly “threw Donald Trump under the bus” during his testimony before a grand jury in the Georgia election fraud case.
Graham says that Trump would have believed that “Martians came and stole the election” from him back in 2020 when Joe Biden won the race for the White House.
In the new book Find Me the Votes: A Hard-Charging Georgia Prosecutor, a Rogue President, and the Plot to Steal an American Election, writers Michael Isikoff and Daniel Klaidman wrote, “After fighting a four-month legal battle all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court to block his grand jury subpoena – and losing … Graham turned on a dime ‘and threw Trump under the bus.”
“According to secret grand jury testimony in Fulton county confirmed by the authors, Graham testified that if you told Trump’ that Martians came and stole the election, he’d probably believe you.’ He also suggested to the grand jurors that Trump cheated at golf,” they continued.
It has been widely reported that Trump cheats in golf.
Isikoff and Klaidman described a “strange encounter” between Graham and Fani Willis, the Fulton County district attorney. Willis has spearheaded the election subversion case. The case resulted in 13 criminal charges against Trump and 18 of his allies.
Willis decided not to charge Graham over his involvement in Trump’s attempt to overturn the election in the state of Georgia.
After the senator finished testifying, Isikoff and Klaidman wrote, “he bumped into Fani Willis in a hallway and thanked her for the opportunity to tell his story.”
Willis said that Graham described the experience as “cathartic” and told her he felt much better. According to a source, Graham even hugged Willis.
The source said that Willis was like, “Whatever, dude.”
Trump faces 91 criminal charges, including four federal charges related to his attempt to overturn the 2020 election results. He also faces 40 charges for the retention of classified information and 34 for hush-money payments to an adult film actor.
The former president faces civil lawsuits over alleged business fraud and a defamation claim due to a rape allegation that a judge declared was “substantially true.” Last month, a jury awarded writer E. Jean Carroll $86 million in damages.
There have been attempts to remove him from the ballot for his actions during the January 6 Capitol riot.
Despite this, he dominated the Republican presidential primary in Iowa and New Hampshire. He has pressured his main rival, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, to drop out of the race.
Graham remains an enthusiastic Trump supporter in public.
Scout and Tallulah posted another rare glimpse of Willis last month in a joint Instagram…
They emphasized, “There won’t be another deal. There may be one-offs, but that’s it.”
Seibert speculated, “If struggle without context is baffling, heaven without struggle isn’t very interesting.”
The shooter was identified to be John R. Lyons, 24, of Westchester, Illinois.
