Selling Sunset stars Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim have announced their breakup. They both said in social media posts that they split due to differences in their desires for starting a family.

The two real estate agents rose to fame on the Emmy-nominated Netflix reality series, which explores the personal and professional lives of agents in the high-end Los Angeles real estate firm, the Oppenheim Group. Five months ago, the two confirmed that they were dating. On Wednesday, they both posted on their respective Instagram accounts to discuss the end of their relationship.

“I have tried to embrace the world have found myself in and that includes being open and honest about my relationships,” Stause said in her post, explaining her decision to share the news with the public. “Although my initial reaction to a private situation was to not speak on it, sometimes it’s easier to just live transparently because we only get one chance at this life.”

In the post, Stause touched on the fact that her desire for a family did not align with Oppenheim’s. She wanted one, while Oppenheim apparently did not. “Men have the luxury of time that women don’t and that’s just the way it goes,” she said. “I very much hope to one day have a family and decisions I make at this point are with that goal in mind.”

Oppenheim, co-founder of the real estate firm in the reality show, also posted his thoughts about the breakup on his Instagram. “While we have different wants regarding a family, we continue to have the utmost respect for one another,” he said.

Stause voiced the same sentiment in her post. She wrote, “Jason was and is my best friend, and other than our ideas for family ultimately not being aligned, the amount of respect and love we have for each other will not change going forward.”

Despite ending their relationship, both members of the couple have expressed love and respect for each other. “We will always love and support one another,” said Oppenheim. “Chrishell is an exceptional human being and loving her and having her in my life is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.”

“Thank you Jason for the most incredible relationship,” Stause ended her post, “and for consistently being honest with me even when it hurts.”
