Selena Gomez will host this year’s WE Day, an event aimed to celebrate the youth in the U.S. by bringing together 16,000 young adults and encouraging them to take action on social issues.
“The electricity of an arena full of thousands of young people who are making real change in the world is like nothing I’ve ever experienced,” Gomez said in a statement. “I am grateful to be a part of such a supportive community and hope I can inspire the kids at WE Day just as they continue to inspire me.”
Along with Gomez, other performers will include Alicia Keys, Demi Lovato, Tyrese Gibson, Alessia Cara, DJ Khaled, plus appearance from Earvin “Magic” Johnson and Bryan Cranston. Miss Piggy will even be in attendance with some of her Muppet pals.
In addition to singing, Gomez is a UNICEF Goodwill ambassador, so she is the perfect candidate to host WE Day. Not only does the event get young people involved in current issues, but it also raises money for causes pertaining to hunger, homelessness, bullying, clean water, and education.
