Selena Gomez walked off the Jingle Ball 2013 stage mid-performance on Friday, Dec. 6.
Gomez, who has been focusing on her music recently, with her newest album, Stars Dance and her first number one single, “Come & Get It,” was performing at the annual KISS FM Jingle Ball in Los Angeles when a sound malfunction angered the pop star, causing her to walk off stage before the end of her set.
After singing a few songs, Gomez brought up the issue with the crowd, saying, “Sorry, the sound isn’t working…Are you guys having a good night? I promise, a lot cooler people are gonna come out tonight… Is it okay if I perform two more songs and you guys can get to it?”
Gomez was already planning to end her set early, and spoke to the audience a bit more while waiting for the technical malfunction to be fixed:
“I have to thank you guys so much for allowing me to be able to perform the music that I love… And I have to say that before you guys go on to the people that you care about, I really appreciate you supporting everything I do. So this next song is the first song I had hit No. 1, and it’s called ‘Come & Get It.’”
According to reports, that was when things went wrong for the singer, who experienced more technical difficulties, eventually leading her to exclaim, “What the f—k?” Sources say that whatever the problems were, they certainly weren’t with the microphone, as Gomez’ expletive was clearly heard throughout the stadium. The incident, while unconfirmed, was captured on video by a few concert-goers.
Gomez quickly wrapped up her set and left the stage. She has yet to release a comment on the surprising outburst.
Other performers at the concert also suffered technical difficulties. Ariana Grande reportedly suffered a similar issue when her microphone stopped working during her performance. Other performers, such as Miley Cyrus, did not report any technical difficulties.
