Selena Gomez shared a trailer for her new Netflix drama series 13 Reasons Why on her social media accounts.
The show, which Gomez executive produces, is based on the same-named young adult novel by Jay Asher, and follows Hannah who decided to haunt her classmates after committing suicide by leaving them audio tapes.
“A peek at the passion project I’ve been working on with @Netflix,” the singer wrote on Instagram. It sees Hannah, played by Katherine Langford, tell the viewer, “I’m about to tell you the story of my life. More specifically, why my life ended.” We meet a series of other, still-living characters, who somehow played a role in Hannah’s death.
“If one thing had gone differently somewhere along the line, maybe none of this would have happened,” a man’s voice says. “People were starting to talk, I had to do something,” says a woman’s. Ominous text pops up on the screen that reads, “They all killed her.”
“Maybe I’ll never know why you did what you did, but i can make you understand how it felt,” Hannah says as the trailer ends. “If you want to know the truth, just press play.”
