A hacker signed on to Selena Gomez Instagram account and posted naked photos of her ex Justin Bieber.
After the photos were posted, Gomez’s account was briefly taken down from the image-sharing site, and was shortly returned sans the nude images. The pictures were of Bieber from his 2015 trip to Bora Bora, and had already surfaced to the public. A rude caption was posted alongside the photos and three other Instagram accounts were tagged, saying “we run da scene.”
In 2015, at the time of the initial leak of the nude pics, the “Sorry” singer said he felt “super violated” by the intrusion, and he felt “like I can’t step outside and feel like I can go outside naked… Like, you should feel comfortable in your own space, especially that far away,” he said.
Gomez is currently Instagram’s most popular user, with roughly 125 million followers. This incident comes after another high-profile attack on singer Ariana Grande‘s account. Those hackers posted highly inappropriate and offensive messages throughout her profile.
Gomez, 25, and Bieber, 23, have been linked together since 2009, and began official dating in 2011. They dated on and off for a few years, but have not been publicly together in over a year. Gomez has spoken about the pressure of having the most-followed Instagram account and the anxiety that comes with it. “As soon as I became the most followed person on Instagram, I sort of freaked out,” the singer said. “It had become so consuming to me. It’s what I woke up to and went to sleep to. I was an addict, and it felt like I was seeing things I didn’t want to see, like it was putting things in my head that I didn’t want to care about. I always end up feeling like shit when I look at Instagram. Which is why I’m kind of under the radar, ghosting it a bit.”
Bieber, on the other hand, deleted his social media account altogether. Many fans would post negative comments, and the singer warned them that if they didn’t stop being so negative that he would make his profile private. He did, but shortly after, he decided to delete his Instagram page. Bieber has been trying to clean up his act as of late, declaring God and his faith his number one priority.
