Selena Gomez is set to executive produce – but not star in – a series for Netflix titled 13 Reasons Why.

Netflix Greenlights Selena Gomez Series

Netflix greenlit Gomez’s 13 Reasons Why and gave it a straight-to-series order, Deadline reports. Its first season will get 13 episodes. Brian Yorkey, a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner, is the show creator.

13 Reasons Why is based off of the 2007 young adult novel of the same name written by Jay Asher. The book follows a high school student named Hannah Baker who leaves a box of cassette tapes to a classmate after committing suicide. Within the box are also instructions to pass the tapes on to twelve of her classmates, so that she can share with them the 13 reasons why she took her life and how they played a part.

While Gomez isn’t going to star in 13 Reasons Why, she has a number of other acting projects in the pipeline. Later this year, Gomez will be seen on the big screen in Adam McKay‘s The Big Short, which stars Brad Pitt, Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling. Gomez has also wrapped filming on The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving with Paul Rudd and James Franco‘s period drama In Dubious Battle. She is currently filming Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising with fellow former Disney star Zac Efron.

In addition to her acting work, Gomez plans to go on a world tour to promote her latest album, Revival.
