Singer Selena Gomez became the first person to garner 100 million followers on the popular social media app Instagram.
Despite her last photo being posted six weeks ago, the 24-year-old pop star beat fellow celebs to the social media honor. Others close to the 100 million mark were Taylor Swift with 91.4 million, Beyonce with 85.3 million, Ariana Grande with 85 million, and Kim Kardashian with 83.6 million.
In a statement last month, Gomez announced she was taking a break from stardom to cope issues from her lupus diagnosis. “As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” the singer told People. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges. I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support.”
Gomez has been touring for her Revival World Tour for the last few months, and her latest Insta post showed her on stage during a concert.
