Second Season Of ‘The Mandalorian’ Premieres On Disney+ To Critical Praise

On October 30, the highly anticipated first episode of The Mandalorian’s second season premiered on the Disney+ streaming service. Like the nearly all of the episodes from its previous installment, the first episode of the second season opened to critical praise from both audiences and critics. Many people complimented the episode for its writing, directing from Jon Favreau, special effects and moments of fan service that didn’t seem too excessive or underwhelming. The runtime of the premiere was also extended. Unlike the previous episodes from the first season, which had a runtime of 30 minutes, the first episode of The Mandalorian season 2 had a total runtime of 54 minutes.

In this episode, Mando (Pedro Pascal) travels with The Child (or Baby Yoda as he is known among the fandom) to the desert planet Tatooine in order to find another Mandalorian who can take The Child to safety away from the remnants of the Empire who are trying to capture him. When he is unable to find a Mandalorian, he instead finds the Marshall (Timothy Olyphant) of the town he is currently in, wearing Mandalorian armor. Angered by what the Marshall is doing, Mando demands the armor back. The Marshall agrees to give the armor to him if he helps him kill a massive creature called the Krayt Dragon that has been terrorizing the town. As the episode goes on, Mando and the Marshall team up with the Tusken Raiders, an infamous hostile group of people on Tatooine in order to strengthen their chances of destroying the Krayt Dragon. After finally killing the Krayt Dragon, the Marshall gives the stolen armor to Mando, who rides off to the next location. At the very end of the episode, it is revealed that Mando is being watched by a character who seems to be none other than the iconic Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison). It has not yet been revealed if this is the actual Boba Fett. However, with Morrison playing the character and Boba Fett’s armor being worn by the Marshall in the episode, it seems very likely.

The Mandalorian season 2 can be watched on the Disney+ streaming service and will present a new episode every Friday for the next seven weeks.
