Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is concerned about playing in the upcoming football season amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I am concerned. My wife is pregnant. NFL training camp is about to start,” the 31-year-old tweeted on Sunday night. “And there’s still No Clear Plan on Player Health & Family Safety.”
Wilson is married to singer Ciara, 34, who is pregnant with their second child together. They also have a daughter 3-year-old Sienna Princess, and Ciara has a 6-year-old son Future Zahir with her ex Future.
Ciara showed off her baby bump in an Instagram post on Saturday.
“We want to play football but we also want to protect our loved ones. #WeWantToPlay,” Wilson’s tweet continued.
Wilson is not the only player to question the health and safety measures taken by the National Football League. Many players took to Twitter to echo the statement “We want to play,” but still had hangups on how they will kept safe.
Drew Brees tweeted, “We need Football! We need sports! We need hope! The NFL’s unwillingness to follow the recommendations of their own medical experts will prevent that. If the NFL doesn’t do their part to keep players healthy there is no football in 2020. It’s that simple. Get it done NFL.”
